Composite Geomembrane Construction Precautions

*It should be used in an embedded manner, and the covering thickness should not be less than 30cm

*The entire anti-seepage system should have: The responsibility lies with the base layer, anti-seepage layer, transition layer and protective layer

*The soil should be solid to avoid uneven settlement and cracks. The turf and tree roots within the anti-seepage range should be removed. A protective layer of fine-grained sand or clay is laid on the surface in contact with the geomembrane

*When laying the composite geomembrane , do not pull it too tight. It is better for the parts buried in the soil at both ends to be in a wavy shape. Especially when anchoring with rigid materials, a certain amount of expansion and contraction should be left

*During construction, it is necessary to avoid direct impact of stones and heavy objects on the composite geomembrane. It is best to lay the geomembrane     and cover the protective layer simultaneously during construction

The laying of composite geomembrane

*The surface of the composite geomembrane should be cleaned and laid as a whole, without any unevenness or sharp objects such as stones, iron wires or wooden sticks. Herbicides should be sprayed to kill weeds

*The composite geomembrane is best laid in a certain direction. At the same time, it should not be stretched too tightly. A certain allowance should be left to adapt to the deformation of the base

*A certain width of HDPE Geomembrane and HDPE Geomembrane bonding layer should be reserved on both sides of the composite geomembrane. When laying, the direction of each unit of composite geomembrane should be adjusted properly to facilitate the welding of two units of composite geomembrane

*After the composite geomembrane is laid, it should be pressed down with sand belts to prevent wind movement, which may affect the welding of the edge of the composite geomembrane in the next step.

Features Of Composite Geomembrane

Composite geomembrane uses geotextile instead of granular materials as the protective layer of the geomembrane to protect the anti-seepage layer of the geomembrane from damage, reduce the gradation requirements of the cushion layer particle size, and also play a drainage role

The composite geomembrane has a large friction coefficient, which can prevent the sliding of the covering layer. Compared with the simple HDPE film, the non-woven fabric in the composite geomembrane has a larger friction coefficient. The composite geomembrane can increase the slope ratio and reduce the occupied area

The mechanical strength of the composite geomembrane, such as tensile, tear, puncture and puncture resistance, is high

Composite geomembrane has a certain degree of deformation, and the stress transmission and dispersion caused by the concave-convex defects of the base layer are relatively fast, so it should have a strong capacity

The pore pressure and buoyancy force on the contact surface between the composite geomembrane and the soil are easy to dissipate

Composite geomembrane has a certain heat preservation effect, reducing the damage to the geomembrane caused by soil frost heaving, thereby reducing soil deformation

The composite geomembrane is laid in an embedded manner and has excellent anti-aging performance, reducing the maintenance and upkeep of the project

The construction of composite geomembrane  is convenient, reducing the transportation volume, lowering the project cost and shortening the construction period

1.Introduction

Polyester contimuous filament non woven geotextile(https://geolianyi.com/product/polyester-continuous-filament-non-woven-geotextile/)is a kind of geosynthetic material applied in geotechnical engineering and civil engineering. It is made by the method of polyester continuous filament fiber web formation and needle punching consolidation, and its fibers are arranged in a three-dimensional structure. In addition to having excellent mechanical properties,it also features good longitudinal and transverse drainage performance, good elongation performance, and high chemical stability against biological, acid and alkali, and aging. It also has a wide pore size range, tortuous pore distribution, excellent permeability and filtration performance.

2.PET Filament Geotextile Functions

*Isolation function

Since the effective pore diameter of the geotextile(https://geolianyi.com/product/polyester-continuous-filament-non-woven-geotextile/)is fixed, if it is set as a interlayer between two materials with significantly different properties (such as coarse aggregates and fine aggregates), it can effectively prevent the mixing of these two aggregates with different properties

*Reverse filtration function

When the liquid in the soil flows over geotextiles(https://geolianyi.com/product/polyester-continuous-filament-non-woven-geotextile/),the liquid can pass through smoothly while the soil particles are retained. This phenomenon is called reverse filtration. Reverse filtration is when the liquid passes through the fabric rather than flowing along the fabric surface

*Reinforcing function

Soil has good compressive resistance, but its shear strength is relatively low. Geotextiles(https://geolianyi.com/product/polyester-continuous-filament-non-woven-geotextile/)utilize the large frictional force between them and the soil to control the lateral diffusion of the soil, thereby enhancing the overall stability of the soil

*Protection function

Due to its own flexibility, geotextile (https://geolianyi.com/product/polyester-continuous-filament-non-woven-geotextile/)can serve as a protective layer and can also be called a cushion layer. For instance, geotextiles can be laid on top of geomembranes to prevent them from being punctured by sharp stones

*Fluid conduction function

This is the function of planar drainage or gas conduction of geotextiles(https://geolianyi.com/product/polyester-continuous-filament-non-woven-geotextile/).The numerous three-dimensional pores inside needle-punched geotextiles enhance the fabric’s ability to conduct fluids in the plane, which is also the uniqueness of needle-punched fabrics

3.PET Filament Geotextile Applications

*Reverse filtration of embankments and slopes in water conservancy projects, and isolation and anti-seepage of channels

*Foundation isolation, reverse filtration, drainage, soil slopes, retaining walls and pavement reinforcement and drainage for highways, railways and airport runways

*Soft foundation treatment for port engineering, reinforcement and drainage of beach embankments, seaport wharfs and anti-slope embankments

*Isolation and anti-seepage for landfill sites, ash DAMS of thermal power plants and tailings DAMS of mines

*Isolation, reverse filtration, reinforcement and protection for various infrastructure construction and civil engineering projects

Polyester Continuous Filament Non Woven Geotextile

1.Introduction

Polypropylene continuous filament needle punched non woven geotextile is an important geosynthetic material. We adopt advanced spinning technology. The maximum fiber weight of the geotextile can reach 11D, which is 3 to 4 times the fineness of traditional spinning technology. When the single filament strength exceeds 3.5g/D, it is called high-strength coarse dener fiber. This kind of fiber has higher strength and modulus, and after needling and consolidation, it can form a stable three-dimensional void structure. Therefore, high-strength coarse-denser polypropylene filament needled non woven geotextile exhibits excellent mechanical properties, and at the same time, it has excellent water permeability and water conductivity, with moderate voids and is not prone to clogging. It is an excellent geosynthetic material.

2.PP Filament Geotextile Features

*Light in weight

The density of polypropylene is only 0.91g/cm ³(that of polyester is 1.38g/cm ³), so compared with polyester non woven geotextile, polypropylene non woven geotextile has a larger coverage area under the same strength and the same mass of geotextile

*Good chemical stability

It has excellent acid and alkali resistance, especially alkali resistance due to polyester. Polyester non woven geotextiles are prone to irreversible hydrolysis under alkaline conditions or in the presence of a large amount of water, which can lead to a decline or even complete loss of material performance. They are particularly unsuitable for areas where alkaline interfaces such as cement, lime, and saline-alkali land come into direct contact. In contrast, polypropylene non woven geotextiles are fully suitable for the above-mentioned environments and will not cause pollution to the environment

*High mechanical properties

Polypropylene filament needle punched non woven geotextile is formed by the consolidation of continuous polypropylene filaments. The tensile fracture of the fabric surface is mainly the fracture of fibers. The mechanical properties such as strength and elongation of polypropylene filament needle punched non woven  geotextile are superior to those of short fiber non woven geotextile

*Good drainage performance

It has good hydrophobicity, but also has a good water-conducting effect. In drainage projects, due to polyester

*Good filtering effect

Polypropylene non woven geotextile can achieve the combination of polypropylene nonwoven fabrics with different deniers to form a double-layer filter, which has a better filtering effect

*Convenient for construction

Polypropylene filament needle punched non woven geotextile has a low needling density, a soft surface that is not stiff, and is more in line with the applicable surface, making it more convenient to lay and install

3.PP Filament Geotextile Advantages

*High modulus and high elongation

Polypropylene filament needle punched non woven geotextile utilizes the advanced spunbond needling process to form a unique three-dimensional structure of continuous polypropylene filaments, demonstrating excellent tensile strength, tear resistance, and puncture resistance

*Resistant to acid and alkali

The pH range of 2 to 13 has almost no impact on performance. It can be in long-term contact with alkaline materials such as cement, fly ash and lime, and can maintain stable performance in complex usage environments such as landfill sites, solid waste landfill sites and saline soil without hydrolysis

*Three-dimensional structure

The fineness range of the single filament is 4D-11D,which is 2 to 3 times that of the polyester geotextile fiber. It can form a stable and uniform three-dimensional pore structure, has excellent water permeability and good anti-clogging property

*Excellent weather resistance

High-altitude frozen soil and high-temperature and high-humidity climate environments have almost no impact on the performance of polypropylene filament non woven geotextiles

4.PP Filament Geotextile Applications

*Run to the isolation level at the airport

The airport runway isolation layer is laid between the base layer and the surface layer of the pavement. It is mainly used to improve the interlayer action state, prevent reflective cracks and various interlayer damages, improve the load distribution, and extend the service life of the runway

*Highway waterproof and crack-proof base fabric

Polypropylene filament needle punched non woven geotextile is used for crack prevention in major highway repairs and new highway projects. It forms a waterproof and crack-proof layer with the hot asphalt adhesive layer, effectively reducing the occurrence and development of reflective cracks in semi-rigid base layers

*Isolation layer for high-speed railway ballastless track

The isolation layer of high-speed railway ballastless track is laid between self-compacting concrete and the base plate, which is used to reduce the impact of temperature changes, concrete shrinkage and bridge deflection deformation on the track structure, and at the same time has a certain buffering effect, providing convenience for the maintenance of the track structure. Polypropylene filament needle punched non woven geotextile with acid and alkali resistance, high strength and good elastic recovery is the best choice

*Tunnel anti-seepage lining layer

The waterproof lining layer of the tunnel is located between the initial cement concrete of the tunnel and the waterproof board, and is used to protect the waterproof board and filter impurities to prevent the drainage system from being blocked. The geotextile used for tunnel waterproof lining is in long-term contact with alkaline cement. Polypropylene filament non woven geotextile has a natural advantage

*Bank and bottom protection for water conservancy projects

River ecological bank and bottom protection projects involve laying polypropylene long fiber needle punched non woven geotextiles on the surface of river channels and earth and rock DAMS, and covering them with crushed stones, gabion nets, etc. This not only maintains the ecological balance of river channels but also effectively reduces soil erosion. This method is economical and efficient, and can reduce the amount of engineering crushed stone and earthwork operations

Polyester Continuous Filament Non Woven Geotextile

1.Introduction

PP staple fiber needle punched non woven geotextile is a popular geosynthetic material,it is made by using an advanced needled nonwoven geotetxile fabric production line to cross-lay polypropylene fibers and then reinforce them with needling. The weight range is from 80g/m2 to 1000g/m2.This product has uniform thickness and good isolation effect, and is suitable for various geotechnical projects such as highways, railways, and tunnels…

2.PP Staple Fiber Non Woven Geotextile Features

*Polypropylene fibers have a low density of only 0.91g/cm ³(polyester is 1.38g/cm ³).Therefore,compared with polyester non woven geotextiles, polypropylene non woven geotextiles have a larger coverage area under the same strength

*The special structure of polypropylene fiber endows it with excellent acid and alkali resistance, especially superior alkali resistance to polyester fiber. When used in underground projects such as protection, reinforcement, waterproofing and anti-seepage in soil with strong acidity and alkalinity, its effect is better than that of polyester

*The surface friction coefficient of polypropylene fibers is relatively small, the friction force between fibers is small, and it has good wear resistance. Its seismic dynamic friction performance is much better than that of polyester

*Polypropylene fibers have excellent hydrophobicity and do not absorb water, making them superior to polyester fibers in drainage engineering applications

*High performance polypropylene non woven geotextiles have more fibers and higher strength than polyester non woven geotextiles of the same weight, and their strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions is almost the same

3.PP Staple Fiber Non Woven Geotextile Applications

*Transportation

High performance polypropylene nonwoven geotextiles have very wide applications in the transportation field, such as reinforcing, isolating and filtering the subgrade of highways and railways, sliding layers and isolation layers of high-speed railway ballastless tracks, reinforcing layers of airport aprons and runways, and reinforcing layers of seaport slope protection, etc. Transportation engineering is a major consumer of cement. At the parts that come into direct contact with numerous cement structures, high strength polypropylene non woven geotextile fabric has excellent alkali resistance, which can effectively ensure that its physical properties do not decrease due to the alkalinity of cement and play a long term role in the project

*Water conservancy

High performance polypropylene non woven geotextiles are suitable for any water conservancy project. They can be used alone to reinforce and protect reservoir DAMS, river, lake and sea embankments, etc., and can also be combined with geomembranes to form composite geomembranes for anti-seepage in water conservancy projects. However, in the project of reinforcing and preventing seepage in combination with cement, high performance polypropylene non woven geotextiles must be used. The alkalinity of cement can dissolve polyester non woven geotextiles within half a year, causing huge losses to the project and even leading to the loss of life and property

*Environmental protection

In environmental protection projects, many are under alkaline conditions and high performance polypropylene nonwoven geotextiles must be used. For instance, tailings DAMS and heap leaching sites for various metal beneficiations (such as gold, silver, copper, aluminum, magnesium, lead, zinc, etc.), landfill sites, special landfill sites, fly ash landfill sites, ash dam pools, heap leaching sites, red mud storage facilities, etc., are all in acidic or alkaline conditions

What’s Steel Plastic Composite Geogrid?

Lianyi® Steel-plastic composite geogrid is made by specially treating high strength steel wires, combining them with polyethylene and adding other additives, and extruding them to form composite high-strength tensile strips, and the surface has a rough texture, it is called a high strength reinforced geogrid. This single band is woven or interlaced at certain intervals in the longitudinal and transverse directions and welded by ultrasonic waves. Due to the product surface being rolled into regular patterns, when laid in the replacement fill soil layer, it bears huge stress resistance and friction with the fill soil. As a whole, it limits the shearing, side extrusion and uplift of the foundation soil. Because the stiffness of the reinforced soil cushion layer is relatively large, it is conducive to the diffusion and more uniform transmission of the upper foundation load to the lower soft soil layer, effectively improving the bearing capacity of the foundation Due to the effect of the reinforced soil cushion layer, the overall stiffness of the foundation within the compression layer range is increased, which is conducive to adjusting the deformation of the foundation. The reinforced soil composite cushion layer formed by using steel plastic composite geogrid is a flexible structure that can absorb the energy of earthquakes very well, so its seismic performance is good.
