1.Introduction

2.PP Staple Fiber Non Woven Geotextile Features

*Polypropylene fibers have a low density of only 0.91g/cm ³(polyester is 1.38g/cm ³).Therefore,compared with polyester non woven geotextiles, polypropylene non woven geotextiles have a larger coverage area under the same strength

*The special structure of polypropylene fiber endows it with excellent acid and alkali resistance,especially superior alkali resistance to polyester fiber.When used in underground projects such as protection, reinforcement, waterproofing and anti-seepage in soil with strong acidity and alkalinity, its effect is better than that of polyester

*The surface friction coefficient of polypropylene fibers is relatively small, the friction force between fibers is small, and it has good wear resistance. Its seismic dynamic friction performance is much better than that of polyester

*Polypropylene fibers have excellent hydrophobicity and do not absorb water,making them superior to polyester fibers in drainage engineering applications

*High performance polypropylene non woven geotextiles have more fibers and higher strength than polyester non woven geotextiles of the same weight, and their strength in both longitudinal and transverse directions is almost the same

3.PP Staple Fiber Non Woven Geotextile Applications

*Transportation

High performance polypropylene nonwoven geotextiles have very wide applications in the transportation field, such as reinforcing,isolating and filtering the subgrade of highways and railways, sliding layers and isolation layers of high-speed railway ballastless tracks, reinforcing layers of airport aprons and runways, and reinforcing layers of seaport slope protection, etc. Transportation engineering is a major consumer of cement. At the parts that come into direct contact with numerous cement structures, high strength polypropylene non woven geotextile fabric has excellent alkali resistance, which can effectively ensure that its physical properties do not decrease due to the alkalinity of cement and play a long term role in the project

*Water conservancy

High performance polypropylene non woven geotextiles are suitable for any water conservancy project. They can be used alone to reinforce and protect reservoir DAMS, river, lake and sea embankments, etc., and can also be combined with geomembranes to form composite geomembranes for anti-seepage in water conservancy projects.However, in the project of reinforcing and preventing seepage in combination with cement, high performance polypropylene non woven geotextiles must be used. The alkalinity of cement can dissolve polyester non woven geotextiles within half a year,causing huge losses to the project and even leading to the loss of life and property

*Environmental protection

In environmental protection projects, many are under alkaline conditions and high performance polypropylene nonwoven geotextiles must be used. For instance, tailings DAMS and heap leaching sites for various metal beneficiations (such as gold, silver, copper, aluminum, magnesium, lead, zinc, etc.), landfill sites, special landfill sites, fly ash landfill sites, ash dam pools, heap leaching sites, red mud storage facilities, etc., are all in acidic or alkaline conditions
